GIRL POWER : Interview with Kasia, member of the first all-girls team in the World Carp Classic Junior.

We interviewed Kasia a few days before the opening of the World Carp Classic Junior (24th – 28th May 2016 / Lake Katlov – Czech Republic).
Kasia is representing Poland with Ola Skalmierska this week so we wanted to know more about her!

VMC: Hello Kasia, first, tell us more about yourself! How old are you and how old were you when you started fishing?

Hello! My name is Kasia Kozłowska and I come from Poland. I fish for the Shimano Tribal Poland team. I’m a 17-year-old lady carp angler and I’ve been fishing since I was 6 years old. At this time, I fell in love with this sport!
It is definitively more than a hobby or a passion; simply it’s my whole life and more!

VMC: How this love for fishing was born?

I have always loved animals, nature, wildlife, lakes and rivers.
One day, I decided to try fishing but it wasn't easy for me because I was too small to start alone. My father had to take me to the lake and started fishing with me but he didn’t fall in love with the sport like me at that time.

We started to fish more and more and I noticed that he became interested in fishing. So, my dad decided to get the fishing licence needed to fish here in Poland. We usually went fishing at Lubowidz Lake and other lakes around our house.

VMC: Do you remember your first fishing session?

I still remember my first fishing day at the lake with my dad and my lovely sister. I also remember my first rod, reel and much more strange things.
I also remember my first fish – it was small perch! I had been looking forward to this moment for such a long time, that’s why I have it still in my memory!
That day, I caught a lot of small fish and when the evening was coming I caught big perch by myself. I don’t have words to describe my feelings.

VMC: When dit you get into carp fishing?

In 2012, I started carp fishing. At the beginning, it was really hard for me because I was a child and I didn’t have enough money to buy all the equipment. Everything was so expensive for me! In 2013, I got my first specialist carp rod and great reel from Shimano! It was a real dream!  I remember like today the first and the biggest carp which I caught thanks to this combo! Time passed but I love carp fishing more and more.
After few years, I had opportunity to meet amazing people from Normark Polska and few months later I joined to the Shimano Team Tribal Poland.
Today, my dream has become a reality and I realize how lucky I am!
I can go fishing with the best equipment in the world!
Legendary reels and rods by Shimano, great boilies, pellets and more and more by Dynamite Baits, accessories by Carp Spirit and of course the best, strong and really sharp hooks – VMC!

VMC: Where do you usually go fishing?

I tend to fish in Polish lakes near my home, in the northern part of my country.
I like to travel and fish with my team. I also would like to try fishing abroad, for example in Morocco, Thailand and the United States. For me it would be something totally new to know other techniques, people and lakes.

VMC: Do you want to test other fishing types?

I really would like to try fishing types like urban street-fishing. Fishing in the center of a big city must be fantastic! I’m planning an urban session with my friend in the center of our beautiful Warsaw!

VMC: Which VMC Hooks do you use?

One of my favorite models is the VMC Mystic Carp Short Shank Specimen size 6 (7021). I prefer small hooks, for example sizes 6 and 8 are perfect for me. This VMC hook is my favorite one because I caught a lot of carps thanks to it.
It is the perfect size of hook for a 15mm pop up!

VMC: You are going to take part in the World Carp Classic Junior within few days, how do you feel?

I am really looking forward to participating in this competition! That has always been my dream! I had never thought that I would take a part in this kind of event! It’s a big experience for me. I'm very proud and can’t wait because I will fish with my friend Ola!

Thank you so much for your time Kasia and good luck in the competition from everyone at VMC!
